this theory I present three cases, 7, 8 and 10years of age, which are under treatment, in order to show changeswhich have taken place within a year. These results have been obtained by means of very simpleapparatus. But they are highly instructive to those who areinterested in orthodontia. It should also be added that the effects of such operationsreach much farther than would appear at first sight. Indeed theyare almost incredible ; and few, if any, and those mostly physicianspracticing largely among children, have yet begun to realize them. Since then doubt has been expressed as to the utility ofmoving the deciduous teeth; doubt as to whether such movementcould have any effect on the positions of the permanent teeth thatare still unerupted. THE JOURNAL. Your attention is invited to the illustration of a childs skull,not far from normal. It will be seen that the roots of the molars carry the permanentbicuspid crowns, which as yet have no roots, so thoroughly intheir grasp that any movement of them would naturally be im-parted to the permanent teeth. I present now for your consideration three cases taken fromamong ten that have recently been under treatment, on all of whichI placed regulating apparatus in the early part of last year.
