For the relief of her sterility a dilata-tion and currettage was recommended,with the wearing of an Outerbridge stempessary for a month. Preliminary to thisoperation, the vaginal fissures were curedby thorough stretching with the fingersand by the use of graduated glass vaginaldilators. Soon after her next menstrual periodwhich began a week later, a recurrenceof local syncope occurred. The areas ofthis are well shown in the photograph(Fig. 6.) The tissues were totally blanch-ed, quite anesthetic, did not bleed onscratching or pricking with a pin, andshowed as clearly on the surface as ifthey had been painted. This conditionlasted for several days and graduallyfaded away until the normal color of theskui was restor- d. Progress and Treatment.—In this casethe outcome of the treatment was mostsatisfactory.
