The citys correctional institutions have their ownGroup Plan, on a great tract of high land without thecitys limits. This group comprises a hospital and work-house, and an infirmary situated on a 2200 acre farm,known as the Warrensville Colony. These institutions, aswell as Clevelands municipally owned hospital, are underthe jurisdiction of the department of public welfare. Thehospital cares for the needs of the sick, while the correctionfarm, in addition to caring for tubercular patients andother pernicious diseases, functions as its name implies—as a corrective institution in connection with Clevelandsneed for law and order. The Warrensville Farm stands asa monument to the generosity and kindliness of the peopleof Cleveland, affording as it does, a fine sanitarium fortubercular patients, a home for aged and infirm men andwomen with cottages where old couples can spend their CLEVELAND CONVENTION 137
