Subject Baseball--Portraits Baseball--Photographs Description Pictured here in a Boston Braves uniform, Joshua (Josh) Devore (1887-1954) played with four teams in his seven years in the major leagues (1908-1914). Known as the Seelyville Speed Demon, the 5'6" outfielder was a top bunter and base stealer, totaling 160 base thefts in his career, including 61 in 1911. He hit .277 life time in the majors. Devore played with the New York Giants' 1911 and 1912 pennant-winning teams, and the 1914 World Series champion Braves.
