English: Jos. Mayer and Bros. began in 1897 in Seattle and manufactured many clocks during the first two decades of the 1900s. This photograph shows a seven and a half foot bronze clock dial made by Jos. Meyer and Bros. for the Chehalis County Courthouse in Montesano, Washington. Caption on image: One of four seven foot six inch tower clock dials. Made of solid bronz [sic] for the Chehalis County Courthouse, Montesano, Wash. Made in our shop. Jos. Mayer & Bros. " Austin Seward worked for both Pierson and Co. and Bainbridge Studio. This photograph is not stamped or otherwise marked with a studio attribution, and is assumed to have been taken by Austin Seward.
Chehalis County was later divided into Lewis County and Grays Harbor County. Montesano is now the county seat of the latter. |
