Description
English: Esta extraordinaria fotografia nos muestra a tres oficiales del batallón chileno Esmeralda, quienes posan simulando que uno de ellos atraviesa con su espada al otro.

Al reverso de la foto se puede leer "José M. Pinto Cruz, Antonio del Solar, Martiniano Sta María" Al oficial que distingo claramente es a Martiniano Santa Maria, ubicado en la parte central.

Quiero agradecer a algunas personas que me escribieron, y me indicaron lo siguiente " El capitán del Solar que allí aparece (y que no es Alberto, el futuro diplomático), definitivamente no era oficial del Esmeralda en la campaña de Moquegua. Puede haberse incorporado mas tarde, quizás, y de hecho hubo varios casos así." y con respecto al parecido con Carrera Pinto, el siguiente comentario "Se parece pero no es Ignacio Carrera, ya que este nunca llego a usar las dos presillas ni los tres galones del quepís, que son los distintivos del grado de capitán."
