Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This unique temple of Durga known as Raut Para Durga Temple is located at Bally Dewangunj Arambagh sub–division of the Hooghly district in West Bengal. It is situated with a cluster of other ruined temples at Rautpara area of Balidewanganj. This is considered to be the most unique temple of Bengal. This is because the temple is a rare combination of two styles of Bengal - the Chala (sloped roof) styler and the Ratna (Pinnacle) style. The temple has a triple-arched entrance with elaborate terracotta carvings on its front walls. Above the arches, is a huge terracotta panel of Goddess Durga with her full family. This is the largest Durga panel in terracotta in any temples of West Bengal.

Though the temple is under state archeology protection, it is in a rather perilous state. The place does not have a direct bus service from Kolkata and one needs to change transport from Arambagh and walk-in for sometimes to locate this temple.
