Description
English: A hammered silver penny of King John Class 5b circa 1205 - 1207. The obverse is weakly struck and off-centre and only the HENRICUS of HENRICUS REX can be read in the legend. The reverse is a small voided cross with four pellets in each quarter with the name of the moneyer and mint in the legend outside of this. The legend starts with a cross pattee and then reads MILES ON WINC which stands for a moneyer called Miles from the Winchester mint.
