Summary

[edit]
Description
English: John Lionel Stretton, born in 1860, pioneered the use of tincture of iodine for sterilisation of the skin, a practice that was adopted widely around the world and saved many lives. Indeed, many of us alive today have him to thank for our very existence as this discovery undoubtedly improved the survival rate of those of our forebears who were unlucky enough to need surgery.
