Title
John Yeo Hudd and Mrs William Brook, J M Hudd's farm at Bletchley, near Strathalbyn
Description

The soldier was John Yeo Hudd (1896-1950), eldest son of John Mossman Hudd, farmer of Bletchley. He enlisted in the AIF in March 1916 and embarked with the 21st Reinforcements for the 3rd Australian Light Horse the following August. He returned to Australia in 1919 after service in Egypt. The woman seated is almost certainly his maternal grandmother Mrs William Brook (1831-1925) who lived with her daughter Adelaide and son-in-law John on the farm at Bletchley (Chronicle, 31 October 1925, p59). The image is one of a number taken on the farm in 1916 (GN01751-1759) which cover Hudd's dairy herd, water tanks and family members.

The water tanks behind them are described in GN01752.
