Title
John T. Bryant letter to Samuel G. Bryant, 1864-04-15
Description
John T. Bryant was a member of Company K of the 15th Indiana Infantry Regiment and in February of 1862, his unit was stationed near Chattanooga, Tennessee. In his letter, John Bryant refers a William B. Hendrixson, who shares his dog tent. There also appears to be a briefly sketched poem of sorts in the corner of the first page. He also talks about the collection of confederate muskets and turning them into horse shoes for the United States cavalry. In addition to talking about the weather and life in camp, John also tells his brother not to worry about being drafted. He predicts that the draft is to get rear guards for the army so the veterans can be brought up to the front to finally end this war.
