Description
The Ocean Monarch, built in 1856, at the time the largest sailing ship yet constructed at a New York shipyard. On 9 March 1862 she was thrown on her beam ends in a gale and abandoned. A week later twenty two survivors were picked up by the schooner Oliver H. Booth. Tinted lithograph on wove paper, published by John Raphael Isaac in Liverpool circa 1856.
