Description
English: John Nichols gibbet, Moyse’s Hall Museum, Bury St. Edmunds

Image detail from here

"BURY ST. EDMUNDS, England – A gibbet hangs near the entrance way at Moyse’s Hall Museum, Bury St. Edmunds. Common practice in the 1600s was to cage them in. After that, they were typically then suspended in a gibbet and left for dead. This gibbet was used for John Nichols [or John Nicholls] , who was executed alongside his son Nathan, for the murder of his daughter, Sarah, March 26, 1794."
