Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Our original metadata described this Poole photo (Waterford) as Mr McEneaney- Lady- hat on- group. However, this just in!

There was only one McEneaney in all of Waterford according to the 1901 Census. Born in Monaghan, John McEneaney, who was 26 in March 1901 was an unmarried Prison Warder and he lived on, believe it or not, Gaol Street!

By this date in November 1904, McEneaney was living on 20 O'Connell Street, Waterford. Thanks to mogey for checking farther afield in the 1911 census. By this time, John and Deborah were living in Castlebar with 3 daughters and 1 son.

I initially wondered if it was their wedding day, as both have a chrysanthemum buttonhole! But they are definitely married, as in another photo taken on the same day, Mrs McEneaney has been given the ubiquitous copy of The Lady of the House, prop of props for married women posing at the Poole Studios (and she's wearing a wedding band)...
