This letter was written by John Harold Craven to his mother while he was aboard ship sailing for Pearl Harbor with the Marine Detachment. In the letter, Craven describes being called by God to become a minister and asks her to send him information about attending a Baptist school. The letter reads: "Dearest Mom, Nine days at Sea today, tomorrow we will get back to Pearl Harbor. Stood condition watches until Wednesday morning. Now we are having movies again. What do you think of the stationary? At last I've decided what I want to do when I get out, or rather Lord has decided for me. Mother I want to be a preacher, and instead of going to Carnegie Tech. I want to go to a Baptist school and then to some school where I can get a D.D. It may sound strange it sounded strange to me too. I tried to stop thinking about it, to tell myself I could never be a minister, to think of being an actor. But something inside me wouldn't let me think of anything else." From the John H.
