Mr. Wardlaw Snead Fatally Burned. Used Oil lo Light Fire. Christiansburg, Virginia; March 2, 1906. Special. Today, this community was shocked at the sudden and painful death of Mr. Wardlaw Snead, son of Mrs. Mary Snead of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and nephew of Miss Ocie Wardlaw, of Montgomery College. While lighting his fire from oil in a lamp, the blaze ignited his clothing, And Mr. Snead was fatally burned. The accident occurred at about eight o'clock a.m. at the college. Mr. Snead died at two o'clock p.m. although everything that could be done for his relief, was promptly done. Mr. Snead was a young man, scarcely 30 years of age. He was a graduate of Vanderbilt University, and was visiting his aunt, Miss Ocie Wardlaw, when the accident occurred. He leaves a young wife and an infant child, as well an a mother and brother. Much sympathy is expressed for his relatives. He was a nephew of Mrs. R. B. Spindle, of this place, and a great nephew of Mrs. Pollock, who was for no many years principal of Montgomery College and who resides near here.
