On March 2, 2023, the LBJ Presidential Library hosted an evening discussion with authors John Avlon and Chris Whipple. Avlon is a senior political analyst and anchor at CNN, an award-winning columnist and author of four books: Independent Nation, Wingnuts, Washington’s Farewell, and Lincoln and the Fight for Peace. Whipple is a political analyst, Emmy Award–winning documentary filmmaker, essayist, and commentator on MSNBC, CNN, and NPR. He has written three books: The Gatekeepers, The Spymasters, and The Fight of His Life: Inside Joe Biden’s White House. The conversation was moderated by Mark K.
