Doctor Charged With Killing Mother-In-Law. (By United Press.) Markesan, Wiscomnsin; January 13, 1920. Dr. A. J. Freudenberg [sic], charged with murdering his mother-in-law, Mrs. Netti Duffies, by injection of a mustard solution, was alleged by District Attorney Pail today to have hypnotized his wife to win her support in his fight to clear himself. The main evidence on which the Coroner's jury returned a verdict accusing Dr. Freudenberg of the murder, was given by Mrs. Minnie Ballard, a nurse of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. In a deposition, she said; "Mrs. Freudenberg told us she believed the doctor was responsible for her mother's death and talked about it constantly. She was very angry with him and said in my presence: 'If you; did anything to finish my mother, you better get her well and do it damn quick' ". Since the accusation was made by the Coroner's jury. Mrs. Freudenberg has stood with her husband and said she would spend all the half million dollar estate left by her mother if necessary to clear him. When Freudenberg was arrested, Attorney Paul asked that the preliminary hearing be held up until January 22. He said today if Freudenberg is. restrained in jail until that time it may serve to break any influence which he may have held over his wife. Steps to exhume the body of Alfred Duffies, the physician's father-in-law, were taken today. The county board authorized expenditure of funds for that purpose. Four members of the Duffies family died under mysterious circumstances within four years.
