Deutsch: Statue des Hl. Johannes (von) Nepomuk im Vorhof der Schlosskirche St. Maria von den Engeln in Brühl (Rheinland). Wurde von Kurfürst Clemens August zu Ehren seines Vertrauten Johann Baptist Frhr. von Roll in Auftrag gegeben, der am 5.5.1733 (Datum auf Epitaph in St. Margareta, wo er bestattet wurde) als Opfer eines durch eskalierenden Zwist im Hofstaat des Kurfürsten entstandenen Duells, das der Kurfürst vergeblich versucht hatte zu verhindern, starb. Die Statue stand bis 1937 an der Stelle des Duells im Bereich Comesstraße/Poststraße, von wo engagierte Bürger sie vor der Zerstörung durch die Nationalsozialisten in die Klosterkirche St. Maria von den Engeln brachten und versteckten. Sie wurde 1961 entdeckt und war in der Clemens-August-Austellung von 1961 zu sehen. Es dauerte aber noch etliche Jahre, bis ihre Bedeutung einigermaßen gewürdigt wurde. Warum Nepomuk? Die Antwort ist einfach: Die Statue wurde in der Werkstatt der damals in München ansässigen Brüder Cosmas Damian und Egid Quirin Asam geschaffen, und die berühmte Asamkirche in München ist dem Hl. Johannes (von) Nepomuk geweiht (Grundsteinlegung 1733).
