Description
English: Hjørnet af Vimmelskaftet og Klosterstræde med Johannes Neyes forretning på Vimmelskaftet 26-28 fotograferet af Peter Elfelt i 1906.

NEYE blev grundlagt i 1881 af Johannes Neye, da han åbnede en galanteributik på Strøget. I 1891 påbegyndte NEYE egen fabrikation af lædervarer. Det var blandt andet nødvendigt, hvis man ville åbne flere filialer, da næringsloven ikke tillod at have flere udsalg i samme kommune, med mindre man havde fabrik. Johannes Neye opkøbte med årene hele ejendommen på Vimmelskaftet 28, hjørneejendommen på hjørnet af Vimmelskaftet / Klosterstræde, og de tilstødende ejendomme op ad Klosterstræde. Tidligere rummede lokalerne også NEYEs lædervareproduktion. I 1911 rev man alle 4 ejendomme ned og opførte den eksisterende ejendom. NEYEs forhenværende butik på adressen Vimmelskaftet 30 blev erhvervet i 1918.
