Description
The artist's older brother, Emanuel Andreas Lundbye (1814-1903) followed the family tradition and became an army officer. In the First Schleswig War he served in the Danish West Indies, but in the Second Schleswig War he fought with distinction. By 1840 he was still a lieutenant, but eventually became a full colonel in 1867.
