English: Gadwal-Jogulamba-Famous Shakti Peetham of Hinduism.It is one among the eighteen powerful Shakti peethams. It is close to the holy river of Tungabhadra.
Goddess Jogulamba appears in a seated form on a corpse with scorpion, frog, and lizard on her head. She is seen in a naked avtar with her tongue stretched outside, an avtar of fierce goddess that grants Siddhi in Yoga and hence called Jogulamba. The temple signifies Badami Chalukyan architecture.Tungabhadra and Krishna rivers confluence near Alampur, and hence it is also known as Dakshina Kailasam |
