Description

The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) held a briefing on super storms on March 24, 2015. Dr. Jenni L. Evans, professor of meteorology and acting director of the Institutes of Energy and the Environment at Penn State University, talked about hurricane threats, including wind, storm surge and rain, and she spoke about the need for more interdisciplinary research with meteorologists, statisticians, physicists, and others, to develop a better understanding of storms. She also discussed efforts to bring together researchers and forecasters to find more effective ways of turning new knowledge into information, and improving communications to the public. You can learn more in this video of the briefing.
