| Description |
Français : Jean Terrisse est né le 27 octobre 1874 à Chastel (Haute-Loire, France) dans une famille d'agriculteur. Il travaille sur l'exploitation familiale et se marie avant guerre avec Marguerite Bonnafoux. Il a un fils, Ferdinand, né en 1912. Il effectue son service militaire dans le 158e RI et obtient le grade de caporal et un certificat de bonne conduite. Du fait de son âge (il a presque 40 ans lors de la déclaration de guerre), il est mobilisé en août 1914 au 101e régiment d'infanterie territorial basé au Puy. Face aux nombreuses pertes humaines, sa classe est appelée pour partir au front. Il participe notamment aux combats de Verdun. Après 34 mois de présence au front, il est évacué à l'arrière pour maladie contractée en service commandé. Il passe dans le service auxiliaire et est détaché à la main d'oeuvre agricole jusqu'au 27 février 1919, date de sa libération. Il avait obtenu entre temps le grade d'adjudant.
