Parc René-Lévesque, Montréal « Le langage de l'œuvre de Jean-Pierre Morin s'est d'abord inspiré de la forme de l'ogive, du silex, de pointes et de projectiles. Puis, se sont ajoutées à son répertoire des formes naturelles aux extrémités effilées : flammes, feuilles végétales, éclairs foudroyants, étoiles. Dans l'œuvre La pierre et le feu, les arêtes sont précises et se découpent dans l'espace tel un graffiti évoquant l'énergie et la force du feu. Des phénomènes brusques et instables, des éléments fragiles acquièrent dans les sculptures de Morin une échelle, un poids, une présence et une durée inhabituelle. Les rapports de force naturelle sont renversés. Discutant de cette œuvre, Morin parle de la course de certains corps célestes. L'instant où la matière se consume pourrait être celui où un fragment d'astéroïde s'enflamme en entrant dans l'atmosphère de la terre. Morin a par ailleurs déjà indiqué qu'enfant, il était fasciné par l'incandescence du métal et par les étincelles qui fusaient sous le marteau du forgeron de son village natal » <a href="https://artpublic.ville.montreal.qc.ca/oeuvre/la-pierre-et-le-feu/" rel="noreferrer nofollow">artpublic.ville.montreal.qc.ca/oeuvre/la-pierre-et-le-feu/</a> |
