Description

O Jardim do Calvário é o mais importante jardim público de que a cidade dispõe. Tomando o nome do lugar onde foi edificado há mais de um século, a iniciativa da sua construção deve-se ao então Presidente da Câmara José Florêncio Soares e teve o apoio do Comendador Albino de Oliveira Guimarães.

A inauguração solene do Jardim ocorreu em 26 de Dezembro de 1892, tendo a Câmara deliberado na altura aprovar um voto de louvor a Albino de Oliveira Guimarães, agradecendo "os valiosos serviços que prestara ao Município para a construção do mesmo jardim" e "pelo grande melhoramento público que promovera".

Já no século XX, foi construído um coreto no local, bem como um rinque para práticas de lazer.

O Jardim do Calvário tem servido como espaço de entretenimento, lazer e namoro, local privilegiado de onde se abarcam paradisíacas vistas sobre as paisagens rurais circundantes à cidade.

O Jardim tem servido ainda para a realização de manifestações culturais, sobretudo espectáculos musicais, no âmbito das festas que se realizam nos dias de verão. <a href="http://www.cm-fafe.pt/185" rel="nofollow">www.cm-fafe.pt/185</a>
