Description

O nome de Monteiro-Mor, consagrado da toponímia local desde meados do século XVIII, foi atribuído a este Parque, por confinar com o pequeno Palácio onde habitaram dois Monteiros-Mores na segunda metade deste século; referimo-nos a D. Henrique de Noronha (M.M. 1717, filho de D. António de Noronha, 2o marquês de Angeja), que pelo seu casamento com D. Maria Josefa de Melo (filha do Monteiro-Mor Francisco de Melo) herdou este cargo, e D. Fernão Teles da Silva (M.M. 1728) segundo marido de D. Josefa (terceiro filho do conde de Tarouca e Monteiro-Mor do Reino), que adquiriu o Palácio a D.
