Summary

[edit]
Description A Japanese type C class midget submarine (serial number "Ha-51") on display at at Camp Dealey, Guam. The submarine ran aground off the southeastern coast of Guam in shallow water during the U.S. invasion in 1944 and was recovered in the same year. In 2002, the submarine was completely refurbished by the U.S. Navy and is now on display at the War in the Pacific visitors' center on Guam. Only 47 type C submarines were built, of which only 15 saw action. This is the only known surviving example.
