Description A Japanese Ko-hyoteki-class submarine raised off Cape Esperance, Guadalcanal, by the U.S. Coast Guard buoy tender USCGC Ironwood (WAGL-297), in January 1945. The submarine was raised in about 10 metres of water on 20 January, towed to Hutchinsons's Creek, Florida Island, and transferred to a crane barge on the following day.
