Jane Pynsent Hutchinson JONATHAN HUTCHINSON, F.R.S. 121 It was not until I860 that the invitation toa Conference at Aokworth on ik Friends Associa-tion for aiding in the diffusion of Gospol Lightamongst the Heathen M was issued by GeorgeRichardson, of Newcastle. A copy of this isstill pasted into Jonathan Hutchinsons diary;and it was a pleasure to him for many years tobe Hon. Medical Officer to the Friends ForeignMission Association, which, however, was notstarted until I860. Various openings seem tohave finally fixed him in London, where, in 1856,he married and settled at 14, Finsbury Circus. Jane Pynsent West was the youngestdaughter of William West of Leeds and his wifeJane Bracher. Although of Friendly familyon both sides, she was not brought up as a strictFriend. Music was an intense joy to her;painting was one of her earliest and latestpleasures. Her youth was somewhat over-shadowed by a sisters death, and by pecuniarylosses which saddened her father.
