Description
The muscled naked figure of St Sebastian is borrowed from Michelangelo's famous fresco The Last Judgment in Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. Van Scorel was appointed keeper of the papal art collection by the Dutch Pope Adrian VI around 1522.
