Description
Nederlands: Op de hoek Jacob Catslaan/Buitenrustweg in Den Haag staat een monument gewijd aan kunstenaar Jan Theodoor Toorop (1858-1928). Het monument uit 1937 heeft de vorm van een portretkop en is gemaakt door beeldhouwer Johannes Anton Rädecker (1885- 1956).
Het granieten monument, bestaande uit een portretkop van Jan Toorop met een paar bijfiguren, is geplaatst op een sokkel van drieënhalve meter hoogte. Het monument staat achter een bakstenen hekwerk, dat het verlengde vormt van de brugrailing. Op de natuurstenen bekroning van dit hekwerk staat 1858 JAN TOOROP 1926 .
English: On the corner of Jacob Catslaan / Buitenrustweg in The Hague, is a monument dedicated to the artist Jan Theodoor Toorop (1858-1928). The monument from 1937, has the shape of a portrait head and was designed by sculptor Johannes Anton Rädecker (1885-1956).
The granite monument, consisting of a portrait head of Jan Toorop with a few secondary characters, is placed on a pedestal of three and a half meters. The monument is located behind a brick fence, which constitutes an extension of the bridge railing. On the stone pinnacle of this fencing is engraved 1858 JAN TOOROP 1926.
