florey building, oxford, england 1966-1971 architect: james stirling, 1926-1992. final photo from the florey and a personal favourite. it shows the caretaker's flat which in the über-analytical vein of stirling's sixties work is given its own volume, a low aalto vase of a building under the student housing. it is a good place to study the clarity of composition, the apparent freedom of the individual elements, and their complex counterpoint. the <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/seier/sets/72157624701444863/with/4941927123/">stirling set</a> so far. |
