Jim Gill, C.H.E., (City Hall Engineer) knew his luck couldn't last much longer. He had brought the City Hall lawn to a verdant perfection. Nary a dandelion marred the view of Mayor Henry B. Saure. Nary a weed worried Commissioner Bert Yeager. Nary a worn spot (of grass) bothered Commissioner John Browning. Then the orders came. Dig it up! Well, part of it, anyway. With the help of some strong prisoner labor, Gill has been excavating on the east terrace of the City Hall lawn to make room for a super-entrance to the City Hall alley at the police department corner.
