Description |
English: This container holds a musical mechanism as well as supporting an earlier watch. It is attributed to James Cox, a noted London jeweler and toymaker, who produced similar works, many of which were destined for the Far East market. This particular example formerly belonged to the dowager empress of Russia, Marie Feodorovna (1847-1928). Fabergé produced a copy of this clock in silver and nephrite. The copy is in the collection of the Hillwood Museum and Gardens, Washington D.C. |
