Description
Bahasa Indonesia: gunung Lompobattang terletak pada koordinat geografisnya adalah 119°56'13? BT - 05°21'25? LS, yang berada pada arah selatan dari Makassar. Lompobattang berarti ” Perut Buncit “. Berdiri tegak dengan ketinggian 2.870m d.p.l suhu minimumnya adalah sekitar 15°C dan maksimumnya sekitar 27°C. Luas gunung ini adalah 82.77 km2. Orang yang pertama mendaki guung ini adalah seorang pendaki berasal dari Inggris bernama James Brooke pada tahun 1840 James Brooke akhirnya menjadi Raja Serawak (Sumber Ekologi Sulawesi). Hutan gunung Lompobattang termasuk dalam vegetasi hutan pegunungan bawah dan hutan pegunungan Atas. Tumbuhan yang banyak ditemui adalah jenis Podocarpos (konifer Asli), Arega sp. Pohon Mapel (Acercaesicum), Rotan, Paku Tiang, Paku Besar, Lantana camara verb, Tahi angin (Usnea/Lumut kerak/Lychenes), Azalea (Rhododendron), Arbei (Morus alba), Gaultheria celebica, Gaultheria viridifloria, Buni (diplycosi / berbau seperti gandapura), Lumut Aerobryum, Edelweis (andaphaus javanicum), dan sebagainya. Sedangkan faunanya adalah Anoa (Bulbalus depressicrnius), babi hutan, babi rusa, burung coklat paruh panjang, elang sulawesi dan semut Crematosaster.
