DescriptionJallikattu man versus bull game.jpg |
Jallikattu is an ancient Indian game. It is similar to Spanish bull flight, except that this Indian version is non-violent to the bull: that is, the bull is never killed, only subdued. The bullfighter / matador in India does not and can not use a sword, knife or any weapon. The bull must be subdued by attentiveness, skill and hand. Injuries and sometimes death of participants have been reported. Much like running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain; the bulls are trained and toned for Jallikattu. It is highly popular in Tamil Nadu, particularly in regions around Madurai. Shot @ Alanganallur Jallikattu. Photographer: Vinoth Chandar Follow me @ https://plus.google.com/112233299343248188738/ |
