A Jaipur Sardar

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Gobindram Oodeyram

Jaipur c. 1905 Collotype Divided back 14.15x8.85cm

Seated on a horse, this Jaipur Sardar wears a traditional dress and looks very bored indeed. The descendants of the earlier princely states of Jaipur were often called "sardars". Note the well-conceived three colour hand-tinting, with a swath of green feathers next to the horse's head that adds a bit of dimensionality to the image.
