Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Jagiellonian tapestry (The Dispersion of Mankind from the series The Story of the Tower of Babel) of Sigismund II Augustus (King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania), manufactured in Brussels, Flanders, circa 1555–1560, exhibited in the Great Renaissance Hall of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Vilnius in 2023.
In this scene, the rift between the people is even more apparent. A group of women sitting on the ground exhibit utter helpless through gestures of weariness and desperation. The men scatter in different directions. In the background, a caravan of camels moves off in a landscape that continues the background of the previous tapestry. Both tapestries have a nearly identical horizon line and a very similar narrative, which expressed the end of the sense of community and unity of the human race.
