Summary

Description
English: Jagiellonian tapestry (Fratricide Conceived from the series The Story of the First Parents) of Sigismund II Augustus (King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania), manufactured in Brussels, Flanders, circa 1550, exhibited in the Great Renaissance Hall of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Vilnius in 2023.
The biblical scene depicted in this tapestry Shows Cain, dressed in an animal skin and hiding the murder weapon – a horse's jawbone – behind his back, leading Abel out into the field where he plans to kill him. Michiel I Coxcie puts on a virtuoso display of his command of drawing monumental human figures, which suggestively illustrate the unfolding action – the brother's conversation, or perhaps even argument. The background landscape comprises vast fields and rolling hills, here and there dotted with trees. A fragment of the smokey, smoldering sacrificial altar with Abel's sacrifice is visible in the lower left-hand section of the tapestry.
Lietuvių: Jogailaičių gobelenas (Brolžudystės sumanymas iš serijos Pirmųjų tėvų istorija), kurį užsakė Lenkijos karalius ir Lietuvos didysis kunigaikštis Žygimantas Augustas, o pagamintas jis buvo Briuselyje, Flandrijoje, apie 1550 m., eksponuotas Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės valdovų rūmų Vilniuje Didžiojoje renesansinėje menėje 2023 m.
Šiame gobelen vaizduojama scena, kuomet Kainas, apsijuosęs gyvulio oda ir už nugaros slepiantis nužudymo įrankį – arklio žandikaulį, išvilioja Abelį į laukus, ten, kur nori jį nužudyti. Meistrikušmą Michilis I Koksis dar kartą įrodė piešinyje pavaizduodamas monumentalias žmonių figūras, kuriomis įtaigiai perteikiamas veiksmas – brolių dialogas, galbūt netgi ginčas.
