Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano in northwestern Wyoming, USA.

Jagged Spring is located next to a modern tourist boardwalk in the Black Sand Basin of Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. The feature is 5 to 6 meters east of Ragged Spring. Jagged’s basin is about 3 to 3.5 by 1.5 to 2 meters in size and irregularly elongated in shape. The pool’s margin is scalloped and undercut - overhangs are present on the western and southern edges. The pool is deepest on the western side and shallows to the east. Multiple vents are present. Some vents are beneath overhangs and have eroded holes in the overlying geyserite platform. Jagged Spring is never completely calm, but it frequently cycles from very low and mild splashing to fiercely enegetic splashing, which can result in eruptions a couple meters high (even up to ~5 meters).

Jagged Spring’s subterranean plumbing system is connected with nearby Ragged Spring. These two geysers have concerted energetic eruptions.
