English: Jagdishpur Lake, a famous wetland area of Kapilbastu district of Nepal. Jagdishpur Lake was constructed for storage of reservoirs for irrigation. The water of Banganga is stored in it through a canal which is connected to the Chure hills. Lands in various rural areas of Kapilbastu district are cultivable. For the convenience of the farmers, the water stored in this Jagdishpur has been conveyed to the villages through canals. It was built by Jagdishpur Reservoir in 1970 for irrigation purposes. The same Jagdishpur Lake became a bird sanctuary where Siberian birds of various species come and live. In 2003, it became a wetland. The view of sunrise and sunset from this Jagdishpur lake is very beautiful. Most of the tourists come here to watch the sunset and sunrise. Jagdishpur Lake is a storehouse of different species of birds in Nepal. |
