From Wangerooge to Bremerhaven: a landscape almost entirely shaped by man

Deutsch: Im Vorgrund sieht man die Ostpitze der Nordseeinsel Wangerooge. Der gesamte Ostteil der Insel entstand erst infolge eines ehemals angelegten Eisenbahndamms zum Ostanleger. Heute wird dort Sand entnommen (Auskuhlungen) um Sandverluste am Badestrand weiter westwärts auszugleichen. In der Bilmitte sieht man die künstliche Insel Minsener Oog, erkennbar am Turm. Die Insel entstand im Rahmen der Freihaltung der Schifffahrtswege nach Wilhelmshaven. Hinter der Insel passieren das Baggerschiff Nordsee (links) und die Kriegsfregatte F223 Nordrhein-Westfalen. Ganz im Hintergrund sieht man Hafenkräne (links) und Gebäude (rechts). Die Gebäude gehören wahrscheinlich zur Stadt Bremerhaven. Die Aufnahme entstand aus einem Tragschrauber. Die Flughöhe betrug rund 500 Fuß. |
