  • Dansk: Allerede på Salys tid blev der fremstillet flere gipsafstøbninger, et blev sendt til Kunstakademiet i Paris, et til Asiatisk Kompagni. I brev af 28. juni 1778 meddeler Saly til greve J. G. Moltke, at der er betalt for udførelsen af tre små modeller til hoffet og fire andre, udført bagefter. Det må dreje sig om syv eksemplarer af den lille model til rytterstatuen. Iflg. koncept til J. G. Motkes svar har enkedronningen og arveprinsen hver modtaget en model og sender som tak Saly en ring. Senere udbyder Domenico Gianelli, der havde været medarbejder ved rytterstatuen fra 1758, afstøbninger af den lille model og af hesten alene. Der kendes ti eksemplarer af gipsafstøbninger efter den lille model, Emma Salling i Amalienborg, 1973, p. 65 ff. De afviger noget fra hinanden i detaljer og nogles proveniens kan føres tilbage til Salys tid. Kun fire er signerede og daterede, således det bemalede eksemplar i Københavns Bymuseum, se John Erichsen og Emma Salling: Fyrste og Hest, rytterstatuen på Amalienborg, 1976, kat. nr. 98, afb., se også p. 58, ibid., p. 81 fortegnelse over litteratur om statuen. Vort eksemplar er nu anbragt på model til rytterstatuens sokkel (efter august 1766, da de oprindelig planlagte figurer og relieffer var opgivet), den er af marmorreret træ (95,7X102,4X57,7) og er modtaget i 1959 fra uenrigsministeriet i bytte for en kopi. (Se: Olsen 1980, p. 114-115).
