[edit]DescriptionJacobs DFS 108-53 Habicht ‘F-CAEX’ (really F-CCAG) (53391616926).jpg |
c/n 2 Designed by Hans Jacobs specifically for aerobatics, the Habicht was famously demonstrated at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Flown by Heinz Huth and Hanna Reitsch, they carried out spectacular displays both above and within the stadium. Hanna Reitsch also flew one at the 1938 Cleveland Air Races. Although at least two beautiful replicas still fly in Germany, this is the only surviving original example. It has been painted to represent F-CAEX (c/n 1), the glider used by Marcel Doret to win the 1939 World Aerobatic Gliding Trophy. It is actually F-CCAG (c/n 2) which was deregistered in August 1955. Appropriately inverted, it is on display in the Interwar Hall at the Musée de l'air et de l'espace. Le Bourget Airport, Paris, France. 12th July 2022 |
