Description
Text from the auction: The brig Vulture, 165 tons, was built at Shaldon, near Teignmouth, South Devon, in 1828, but does not appear in Lloyd's Registers of Shipping until about 1840, by which time she was commanded by Captain Thomas Gilbert. Having changed her master by 1848, this painting of Vulture can be dated to the 1840's during which decade one of her several destinations was Viania in Scandinavia.
