[edit]DescriptionJWST's Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM) mounted on a test frame (12639629415).jpg |
The James Webb Space Telescope's (JWST) Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM) can be seen as the black composite framework in this image. The gold-colored frame under it is the test frame. The silver-wrapped instrument on the left is the European-provided MIRI (Mid InfraRed Instrument). The gold-colored instrument, partly visible inside the frame, is the Canadian-provided FGS/NIRISS (Fine Guidance Sensor/Near Infrared Imager and Slitless Spectrograph). This image was taken while the ISIM was still inside the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Space Systems Development and Integration Facility (SSDIF) cleanroom.
