Summary

[edit]
Description

Large agave now blooming in my home garden. I estimate the stalk to be more than 5 meters tall. Help identifying the species would be appreciated. Photographed in a private garden in Berkeley, CA.

11/12/2015—Thanks to Tony Rodd, I now have an ID for what I thought was an Agave. It is Furcraea selloa, a monocarpic species from Guatamela (although no wild populations exist.) The Ruth Bancroft Garden adds another meter to my estimate of 5 meters making it over six meters tall. It has a common name of wild sisal.
