Saray Gate

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: I could not get information about this gate at the Vakıf Sokak other than from a good site at https://www.romeartlover.it/Nicea2.html , where it is explained that "Sultan Orhan Gazi (the Victorious) resided for some time at Nicaea in a palace (Turkish: saray) at the south-western corner of the town which most likely included the ancient Roman theatre. A gate was opened in the walls to allow the Sultan to easily enter or leave his palace." The area is easily overlooked, but has fine walls extending further to Yenişehir Kapısı. I am not certain if the i in sarayi is proper, and leave it out.
