English: Tridacna gigas. This is one of the largest molluscs known, surpassed in size and weight only by the giant squides and some fossil nautiloids and ammonites. These creatures live partially embedded in the coral reefs ranging from the Philippines to Micronesia. The largest pair of valves belonging to the Giant Clam on record measured 137 cm in length and weighed 280kg |
